Jovan Radakovich is a fine art photographer, painter, writer and musician.
Born to a very cultured Italian mother and Serbian father, he was raised in the United States and developed an early interest in art, particularly the Old Masters Michelangelo, Caravaggio, and Vermeer. At the age of 5 he met the legendary painter Ivan Albright..
While a teenager he won a scholarship to The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, which he attended briefly but considers himself self taught.
Throughout his twenties and thirties he lived for a number of years in France, first in Paris and later in the Nice and Vence region.
His style of painting is very representational and figurative, blending neo classical and metaphysical elements in a poetic manner.
In 2011 he developed a photographic technique called photogravures, engravings made by means of photography that emulate the work of Gustav Dore.
These pictures are often interpretations of Greco-Roman mythology.
In recent years he has written two mystery novels, Rue d'Enfer and The Hidden Fresco. The latter is based in part on his experiences as an art restorer.
Also in 2011 he took up composing music. Without any formal training he embarked upon a project to write and record a new song every day for a period of a year.
The music spans literally every genre: classical, experimental, jazz, electronic, and rock.
As a visual artist I work in oils, pastel, charcoal, photography
